As a parent, he is aware of the relationships that local organizations develop with the communities they serve, and what these organizations do to support the members of those communities. He serves as the Director of the Conflict of Interest Program for the Penn State College of Medicine, as a member of the Institutional Conflict of Interest Committee for Penn State University, as the Vice-Chair of the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators Network, and is an appointee to the Critical Care Medicine Subboard of the American Board of Pediatrics, among numerous other appointments.
